Upload Hover ESX/XML or EagleView XML/JSON files when they include roof geometry, pitch, facets, and edge measurements. If your file is not supported or does not include enough roof information, open Sketch a Roof, draw your structures first, send the sketch to Instant Report, and then upload any CAD/source files in Instant Report after the sketch handoff if needed.
When To Use This
Use this guide before you upload a provider file, when an upload does not work, or when a generated report does not match the measurement report you expected.
- Supported provider files are Hover ESX, Hover XML, EagleView XML, and EagleView JSON.
- The file needs usable roof planes, edge measurements, pitch information, or roof geometry so Instant Report can calculate roof area and material quantities.
- If you only have another file type, ask the measurement provider for a supported export or use Sketch a Roof.
- When using Sketch a Roof, draw your structures first and upload any CAD/source files in Instant Report after the sketch handoff if needed.
- If a file only contains flat coordinates and no pitch labels, the app may not have enough information to calculate pitched roof area from that file alone.
Example
A good Hover ESX file usually includes roof facets, edge measurements, pitch information, and roof geometry. If your upload is missing roof planes or pitch information, get a corrected export from the provider or build a scaled sketch from reliable measurements before generating the report.

Upload supported files on the Instant Report page. After generation, review the Roof Sketch tab, included facets, building names, report settings, and PDF output. If you need Sketch a Roof, open the Sketch app, draw your structures first from reliable measurements, send the completed sketch to Instant Report, and then upload any CAD/source files in Instant Report after the sketch handoff if needed.
