Every Piece of Trim. Every Edge. Calculated.
Panel Takeoff calculates trim quantities for your entire roof based on the actual edge measurements, not rough estimates from square footage. Ridge cap, hip cap, drip edge, rake, valley, apron, valley J-strip, and Z-closure are all broken out with configurable widths and waste factors.
Full Trim Breakdown by Type
Eave/Drip edge
Total linear footage of eave edges across all facets.
Rake
Total linear footage of rake edges, typically the gable sides of the roof.
Ridge cap
Linear footage where two facets meet at the top. Calculated from actual ridge lengths, not estimated from roof width.
Hip cap
Linear footage of hip edges where facets meet at an angle.
Valley
Linear footage of valley edges where two roof planes meet going downhill.
Apron/Headwall flashing
Linear footage where the roof meets a vertical wall.
Valley J-strip
Calculated alongside valley measurements for the J-channel that sits under the valley pan.
Z-closure
Linear footage for Z-closure, customizable to where you install it.
Pitch transition
Linear footage where two roof planes meet at a pitch change. Calculated from the actual transition edge length.
Each trim type shows its total linear footage for the project, broken down by facet when you need the detail.
Match Your Trim to How You Actually Build
Per-trim-type width settings
Set the face width for each trim piece individually. If your rake trim is 4" and your ridge cap is 10", set them separately and the calculations reflect that.
Coil width divisor
Enter your coil width and the app shows how many trim pieces you get per coil. If you’re running 24" coil and your ridge cap profile takes 12", you know you’re getting two pieces per pass. This helps you figure coil orders without a separate calculation.
Trim waste percentage
Set a waste factor for trim separately from panel waste. Trim has laps, miters, and short pieces at transitions that eat material. A 10% trim waste factor accounts for that across the whole job.
Hip/ridge trim toggle
On some jobs you price hip and ridge trim separately or the scope doesn’t include it. Toggle it off and those quantities drop out of the totals.
