Material Order Math

Price Basis Conversions

Price basis can differ from order unit only where the app has a supported conversion.

Short answer

You can price some materials in a different unit than you order them, such as ordering by LF but pricing by SF. Instant Report supports LF/SF conversions using panel or trim coil width, and SF/SQ conversions using 100 SF.

When To Use Conversions

Use this guide when your material quantity is measured one way but your supplier quotes the price another way.

  • LF to SF or SF to LF can use panel coil width or trim coil width as the width source.
  • SF to SQ and SQ to SF use 100 square feet per roofing square.
  • EA, boxes, bundles, cartons, tubes, and other package-like units do not automatically convert to roof area or linear footage.
  • If a conversion is not supported, set the order unit and price basis to match how your supplier quotes that item.

Example

If a panel material line orders 500 LF but your supplier price is per SF, choose panel coil width as the width source so the app can estimate priced square footage. If a line orders 12 EA, price it per EA or another unit that matches how you buy that item.

Where To Change It

Open the Material Order tab, edit the Order Template, expand a material line, then review Unit Price, Price Basis, and Width Source when it appears. Use the formula preview to confirm the priced quantity looks right.
